If you’ve played Fantasy Football with any level of competence, you know that Fantasy Football Rule #1 is: Don’t draft a kicker early! I mean, come on man, play smart. Yet every season I play in leagues where people are taking kickers as early as the 6th round of a 16 round draft. Other than wanting to give their money away, the explanation I commonly get is “I needed to fill out my starters before picking backups”. WHAT? Who said that? WHY???? And you wonder why you never win, start with drafting a kicker in the 6th or 8th round. I’ll get into the reasons in another post, but wanted to post about Exhibit A: Why you don’t take a kicker early.
Out for the season!
The only thing worse than taking a kicker is taking TWO kickers! If you play in a league where people willingly take kickers before the 15th round or who willingly take two kickers, I’d like to play in your league next year, please contact The Fantasy Sports Junkie.
I was lucky enough to have a subscription to Sports Illustrated when I was a teenager growing up. I used to read that magazine cover to cover every week. I was thirsty for sports and Sports Illustrated was the quencher. Over the years I remember a number of articles, but I think my favorite was The Curious Case of Sidd Finch on April 1st, 1985. As we celebrate April Fools Day this year and as the baseball and Fantasy Baseball season kicks-off, take a moment and re-read this classic article. Sidd Finch, in my book, is the greatest fantasy baseball player of all time. No one can match those numbers!
Since Sidd Finch is the greatest fantasy baseball player of all time, I’ve named my fantasy baseball team the Sidd Finch All-Stars and I have a ton of fun with it. If you didn’t read yesterdays blog, here’s my fantasy baseball team logo.

Play Ball! The 2011 Major League Baseball season is underway, which means it’s also time to play Fantasy Baseball. What have I been doing with my time since Fantasy Football season ended?
